B&B VerdeSud is situated in the historic heart of Eijsden, in the southernmost tip of Limburg. The centre of Eijsden is designated a protected heritage site. It includes the main square the Vroenhof, the quay of the river Meuse and Eijsden Castle.
In Eijsden there are a number of pubs serving meals, restaurants and an ice cream parlour. You can enjoy the beautiful view over the river Maas from a terrace, for example. On the ferry for cyclists and pedestrians you can easily cross the river to the Belgian town of Ternaaien.
Traditions
Eijsden has many traditions, which are still observed today. A yearly event is the ‘Bronk’, a fair which starts with a religious procession two weeks after Pentecost. It continues for two or three days and includes, for example, round dances, named the ‘Cramignon’.
That Eijsden has moved with the times as well, is shown by the new shopping mall in the heart of the village.
Accessibility
Our B&B VerdeSud can be reached easily by car and by public transport. You can get to Maastricht by bus or train in twenty minutes (the bus stop is only 150 meters from the B&B). In Maastricht you can enjoy luxury shops, culture, attractive terraces and a wide range of restaurants and places of entertainment.
Would you rather cross the border? The international cities of Aachen, Hasselt and Liège are all within a 30 minute drive.
Walking and cycling
From Eijsden you can access many beautiful walking and cycling routes in the Limburg hills, the Belgian Voer-region, the Ardennes and the German Eifel. Not for nothing the parish Eijsden-Margraten was chosen as Walking Town of the Year in 2015. We offer a wide variety of walking and cycling routes.
Eijsden also caters for lovers of water sports. You can go swimming at The Maas River beach, which also offers opportunities to go fishing and to practise a wide variety of water sports.
